Library Proposal Election Results
On November 8, 2005, the Library had two issues on the ballot:
- Library Millage Proposal D
- will seek an operational millage of .7 mills for 6 years to provide additional income to staff and operate a larger building. The six year time window will allow the Library to establish enhanced services and give the public a chance to evaluate those services with a short-term operational millage.
- Bond Proposal E
- will seek approval of $7.835 million dollars to construct a 25,000 square foot new facility. This proposal keeps the total building cost the same as the 2002 proposal and the expected tax levy to pay the bonds in the first year is .53 mill with an average over the bond period of .43 mill. The overall bond rate has been reduced by .2 mills from the previous proposal.
Through efforts to economize, the Library was been able to reduce the millage request by one half mill for an overall savings rate of nearly three quarters of one mill from the previously proposed project.
It was necessary for both issues to pass before the parcels were purchased and construction could begin.
Election Results: majority vote; approved.
