This lecture and multi-media presentation was developed after several years of research. The presentation focuses on a period in Samuel Clemens life when he took the name, Mark Twain, and came to Michigan. Stories of his early childhood in the 1850’s and a diary of his travels in Michigan will be discussed. Mark Twain travelled with his wife, daughter and manager. His time in Michigan was the beginning of his famous World Tour. The diary provides interesting comments about the St. Clair Flats and sites along the way to Mackinac Island and other parts of Michigan. The lecture along with 150 or more photos presents a time line of events in his family life. You will see the good years and his times of great loss. Program length 55 minutes plus Q and A.

About the presenters:

Al and David Eicher, of Program Source International, have produced 26 Michigan visual history documentaries over the past twenty-six years. Their efforts in preserving the 100 to 150 year histories of towns and events in Michigan have led to the creation of an extensive lecture series.

Al Eicher is the founder of Program Source International and has been in the television production and distribution business for over 50 years with executive positions at Campbell-Ewald Advertising Agency, 20th Century Fox, Magnetic Video Corporation and Embassy Home Entertainment.  He’s also produced feature motion pictures, owned a radio station, and spent 5 years as an Engineer and Technical Director at Channel 5, an NBC television affiliate.

David Eicher, is President of Program Source International.  He has over 26 years of experience in marketing, television production, editing, videography, scripting and research.  After graduation from Central Michigan University, he worked 10 years in pre-recorded videotape distribution, marketing and sales.
