MeL Databases contain full-text articles from magazines, journals and newspapers as well as digital books. Click here to familiarize yourself with these databases.

DDL Purchased Databases

The following Databases are commercial database subscriptions paid for by the Dexter District Library. Access is free-of-charge to Dexter District Library cardholders and visitors to the Dexter District Library.

Dexter District Library cardholders, use your library card number to enjoy remote access to the majority of our subscription databases - anytime, from anywhere - simply by clicking on the name of the database and entering your library card number.

Those databases which do not allow remote access are highlighted in orange.

All databases are available in the library for public use.

Recommended  for: Readers of fiction (all ages), librarians, and teachers. Helps to  find the next best fiction book to read. Search by author, title,  series, plots, or even books like the one you just finished.

To access from home, call the library and ask to speak with the adult reference desk to receive your username and password.

Gale Virtual Reference Library

The Gale Virtual Reference Library provides respected authoritative essays on varied topics from numerous subject areas, all in eBook format. Includes encyclopedias, alamanacs, trusted reference series and more. This is a MeL database. When accessing this database from home, use your Dexter Library card to log in for remote access
